What good is hope, when all it causes is intemperate hurt
when of all the things you seek,you are denied its comfort
what good is hope, when all it inflicts upon you is pain
when you seek eternal joy and only end up with refrain
what good is hope, when all you hear is its silence
when you seek its aural tingle but are left asking "whence"
what good is hope, when all you behold is its darkness
when the image of the love you seek is only an illusory mess
what good is hope, when everything you've craved for is denied
when the promise of amelioration decides to withdraw itself and hide
what good is hope, when you have lost your faith in Hope itself
for its elusive charms will someday smile upon you to help you find yourself
